Friends of the Zoos (FOTZ)  is an independent, non-profit organisation established in 1980 to support Zoos Victoria and animal conservation. FOTZ provides a range of valuable support services to the three Zoos Victoria properties. For more information on the various roles that FOTZ fulfils in supporting the Zoos, please click here

All the support services provided by FOTZ are undertaken by Zoos Victoria Friends of the Zoos Members who give up their time as FOTZ Volunteers.

Dokkoon's Baby Goes on Show!

 Dokkoon & Baby ElephantVictorian families will have the chance to see Melbourne Zoo's baby elephant for the first time tomorrow, Environment and Climate Change Minister Gavin Jennings announced today.

The latest addition to the Melbourne Zoo was born in the early hours of January 16 and is the first baby elephant born at the Zoo in its 148 year history.

Baby has a name
The six week old baby elephant at Melbourne Zoo was christened today - her name, Mali, is the Thai word for jasmine. There were five names suggested for the baby, and over 34,000 votes cast by the public to choose her new name. Read more
What's Up Skip? Film Festival 2010 - Healesville Sanctuary

Welcome to Healesville Sanctuary's ‘What's Up Skip' Film Festival 2010. 

From Skippy's adventures in the Australian bush to 'My name is Dale Kerrigan and this is my story', Aussies know how to spin a good yarn.  Catch some of Australia's best-loved tales under the stars at Healesville Sanctuary during the What's Up Skip? Film Festival.

Arrive from 6pm and settle in amongst the towering gums for an evening of entertainment.  A fun Skippy trivia session will be followed by and episode of the classic TV series.  Then, as the sun sets, your feature film will commence.........  

Running for four consecutive Saturday nights during March (6,13, 20, 27) and with a special screening of the digitally remastered Gallipoli on ANZAC eve, April 24, there's something for everyone at this family friendly event.
